SNSD’s Jessica says, “I was greeting, not training the fans at the airport”

December 03, 2011 12:55 pm

SNSD’s Jessica shared the behind-the-scenes story of the clip called “training” video.
In the special feature of KBS 2’s Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook that aired on December 2 with the theme of “Healing Music,” SNSD appeared as special guest.
Recently, a video clip of Jessica became an issue. It was named as a “training clip” because her finger gestures seem to train the fans who gathered at the airport to see her.
So in the episode of Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook, Jessica was asked, “I’ve seen the clip in which you train the fans with your finger. What do you say about this?” She answered, “Many fans appear at the airport to take pictures of us. The clip was recorded when I was saying hi to the fans who always appear at the airport to see us.”
Besides SNSD, Lee Sora, Kim Bum Soo, Tim, John Park, and Ham Choon Ho also appeared in this episode of “Healing Music.” However, SNSD’s Yoona did not appear due to another shooting schedule.

In the upcoming series of Please, Captain, Da Jin and Yoon Sung are seen having a date in Australia

December 03, 2011 1:30 pm

Last month, Ku and Ji left for Australia to shoot SBS’s new drama series Please, Captain and are seen having hamburgers together with beautiful scenery in the background.
The pictures above are taken at a secluded farm village. Yoon Sung (played by Ji Jin Hee) brings some hamburgers for Da Jin (played by Ku Hye Sun) who is waiting at the door to persuade someone.

Hot Fashion Tip : Stars look smart in hoods

November 30, 2011 11:20 am

Hooded garments are convenient for all four seasons. Especially in rollercoaster weather such as we’re having these days, a garment with a hood can make you look smart and natural. Let’s look into how some of the stars look stylish in hoodies.
In a pictorial with the romantic concept of a couple sharing time together, released on November 8, Park Ji Sung, a Korean footballer of the English club Manchester United, and Kim Sa Rang, a Korean actor known for her beautiful appearance, wear matching hoodies in different colors, posing affectionately like a real couple. Right after the garment was released, it shot up in real-time search word rankings.
(AH! It'S Kim Sa Rang lUv It)
In a photo taken along with guests on her radio show, SNSD’s Taeyeon is wearing a white hoodie that well reflects her cute, cheerful spirit.
In photos they took of themselves, stars reveal their preference for shirts with a hood. The photos are a popular channel through which we can catch glimpses of the celebrities’ private daily lives and natural looks.
In one photo, we see the Wonder Girls’ YuBin appearing at a polling station to cast her vote for Seoul’s mayor. The casual combination of a green hoodie and a black jacket makes her look natural but sophisticated.
Rainbow’s leader, Kim Jae Gyung, also appeared in such a photo, with a blue hood over her head. The inner side of the hood is delicately patterned with yellow stripes, which accentuates her cute appeal.
Miss A’s Jia and Min look cheerful in funny poses. Jia chose to wear a gray hoodie matched with black sunglasses, proving her sophisticated fashion sense.
Recently, fashionable stars are paying more heed to the way they look at airports. They are tending toward stylish, natural looks, worthy of public attention.
Kara’s Goo Hara wore a navy-blue sweat suit that stresses her neat, clean image. The sunglasses serve as an accent for her casual outfit that might otherwise look too plain.

A simple Korean named Ryan Bang became famous in the Philippines!

  December 03, 2011 11:35 am

Bang Hyun Sung better known as simply RYAN BANG enters Entertainment Industry in the Philippines. He joined the reality show entitled “PINOY BIG BROTHER: Teen Clash of 2010″ his Filipino friend encourage him to join. He have to stay in the House for a long period of time as long as he not voted out, and do task what Big Brother ask them to do. Their are some Koreans that join the show and yet among those Koreans Ryan Bang stands out. He’s ability to make people laugh gave him the opportunity to enter Entertainment Industry or let’s just say Showbiz what most Filipino prefer to call. After winning the 2nd Place as the edition of the show ends a lot of opportunities knock on his door. And without any doubts and hesitations he accepted it. He became a Star Magic contract artist, Star Magic is handled by ABS-CBN. He joined a talent show search entitled “SHOWTIME” as the longest staying judge. In the show the viewers has the chance to vote out judges that they don’t like, Ryan stayed there for 48 weeks and got evicted. Many people cried that day especially the hosts of the show and the resident judge who happens to be a very close friend of his and even treated him as a son named “VICE GANDA”. Though he got evicted a lot of shows came up. He joined the “Banana Split” a comedy sitcom, he also has shows in Studio 23. Studio 23 is also owned by ABS-CBN or much preferably the sister network of ABS-CBN.
Ryan stayed in the Philippines for a long time that’s why he already love staying here. He is now a comedian. In everything he does it maybe a simple one he makes the Filipinos smile. Filipinos are fond of him though some may hate him for some reasons that I don’t know but it doesn’t matter ot all Filipinos are like that. Well, I chose him to be one of my article because he deserves to be known by his fellow Koreans. He’s doing everything for his career, he is really working hard at everything like what Koreans are. I just hope that he keeps on what he’s doing and more projects and activities to come.

2009: Debut and For Muzik

Cube Entertainment announced the creation of 4minute in May 2009, along with the identity of two of the group's members, Nam JiHyun, the group's leader and Kim Hyunah, a former member of Wonder Girls. On 11 June 2009, the silhouette teaser video was released online, along with their official website. The remaining three members' identities were not announced until June 12.
Cube Entertainment had released a teaser for their first single "Hot Issue" on 10 June while the single debuted on June 18. The group promoted the song from its release until August. At the end of August, 4Minute released a mini-album called "For Muzik" which was alongside their second single, "Muzik". 4minute won a mutizen award and a mnet award for their second single "Muzik". Their third single was "What A Girl Wants" was released shortly after the release of their EP.
On 21 June 2009, after the first week of "Hot Issue" promotions, fans stole various items from the group's van, including clothing and other items. Cube Entertainment said, "It was very unfortunate that such an ordeal occurred." Two months later, on 27 August, KBS banned the playing of "Won't Give You (안줄래)" for what they considered to be overly sexual lyrical content. The lyrics in question, in the style of a first-person narrative, express an unwillingness on the part of the subject to "give" herself or her heart to her partner. Cube Entertainment responded to the ban by stating that the song was intended to be "about the pure feelings of a girl to a guy" and that they were very disappointed by the decision.
4minute was featured in fellow label-mate Mario's Christmas digital single "Jingle Jingle", which was released on 2 December 2009; the music video premiered online on December 3, 2009. They also recorded a remix with American artist Amerie for her song 'Heard 'Em All' that was released on the Asian version of her fourth album.

The Mysterious Case Of The Lady Of The Wooden House: Is She Really Gil Ra Im's Mom?

When I read this article, I thought I've read wrong. "What the..."

Audiences of weekend drama Secret Garden are talking about the wooden house's mysterious landlady. Some think that this woman is really Ra Im's mother.
In today's episode (27/11/2010), Ra Im and Joo Won gets lost in the middle of a mountain bike race and finds a dubious looking wooden hut in the middle of the mountain (err, Hansel and Gretel anyone?). The two decides to follow the delicious aroma that leads them to the wooden hut. They asked for help as they stood outside, waiting.

The surly landlady answered them with piping hot bowls of chicken broth that lures them into entering. Inside, there were countless colorful bottles of medicinal wine. Ra Im takes interest in a particular one that's made from various fruits and flowers.
The lady served Joo Won the hot broth and gave him a chicken drumstick, "Eat more," she says, "This is my good will." (~no doubt to fatten binnie up before the "kill"). The bowl full of meat served to Joo Won gave viewers the feeling of visiting a mother-in-law's home. The lady gulped when Ra Im called her a nice lady. After that a "mother-daughter" conversation ensues...

When Ra Im saw the medicinal wine, she told the lady, "My father also has this interest of brewing medicinal wine." The answer the landlady gave Ra Im piqued the audiences' curiosity and even more so when she talks about her daughter's "poor fate".

Die, don't die, die, don't die....

Ha Ji Won Gives An Answer To Taecyeon

Awww this noona-love relationship is so sweet. Yeah I'm totally imagining something more than what seems like a simple admiration. But if Demi Moore can work it, I don't see why this is impossible, ha!

Below is an relevant excerpt from a Newsen interview, and thanks to kingsun0009 I don't even have to translate the sentence (love!):
Q: Say something to your a big fan of yours, Taecyeon?
A: Thank you so much. I've been watching Dream High and supporting you. I'm worried that you'll change your favourite actress. However, I hope you won't change your heart, haha.
Oh that means Ha Ji Won must be on the MiGook ship. Sad...it's lonely here being on the SamMi boat T_T

Long Live SG: Two And A Half Updates

Well, can't really say all these is SG related but it is related to the SG family, so read up, folks!

One: Binnie Goes To Berlin

...for BIFF (Berlin International Film Festival) for Come Rain, Come Shine. Well, no surprise there but first he has to obtain special permit to do so since these are overseas activities. In this regard, the ROK Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be submitting a letter of recommendation to the MMA (Military Manpower Administration) justifying the reasons for him to go abroad from the 15 to the 23rd of March.

So if all goes well he'll be flying to Berlin on the 15th and attend the festival's official events, media interviews etc. on the 17th. He'll be entering the military on March 7 to undergo 5 weeks of basic training in Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do before a specific assignment is to be assigned.

Two: Lee Jong Suk Gets Accepted Into Honkuk University

Lee Jong Suk (23) will be enrolling in the university's Film Department as a [Year] 2011 student. He participated in the entrance exam last November and it is reported that the university's targeted enrollment was 2220 students out of 21 268 people who took part in the exam.

And a Half: Not a ground breaking news...except there will be OSKA socks!!!
Nevermind the Oska is spelled differently. If I have this I don't think I would want to wear shoes, 'cause I'll be busy showing off me socks!

Hyun Bin's Interview With Star Meet Today

I knew I had to translate this interview the moment I saw that MNIKSS was mentioned. While I'm a Binnie lover, I can't say I'm a follower of his works, some of them were a miss (at least to me), like tragedy wannabe Snow Queen and the sleep inducing The World That They Live In. So I think Kim Joo Won is another daebak character for Hyun Bin as an actor since Hyun Jin-heon

In the following interview, you might notice that the questions are in a casual tone and the abundant usage of cutesy emoticons. At first I thought that the interviewer was trying to flirt with Binnie, but no, it's actually a list of questions chosen and compiled from users at dc.

Therefore each question is from a different person. Except for one lucky user that got to ask 2 questions. Guess what his/her username is: It's mun-ja-wa-syong. BWAHAHA.

Hyun Bin, "From A Woman's Perspective"

Q: I'm really a big fan of the drama! Keke, about my question~ My understanding is that you purposely lost weight in preparation for this role. Makes me wonder if you're very particular in this matter^^
A: I lost 8kg before the production started; really got alot skinnier, but I felt that losing weight for the role was necessary (*note: Before this the news reported that it was 6kg, but now we know it's really eight, not six).

Q: For the soul swap in the drama, I can only imagine how hard it must be for you to imitate Ra Im sitting, hehe~
A: Sitting like a lady, it's really uncomfortable. It felt like my body was wrapped up *laughs*

Some of the things men would not think twice about, as a woman every minor detail is carefully thought out first. As Ra Im, my movements were subtler. When I was figuring out the script for Joo Wanda, a lot of funny stuff happened. During the shoot, Yoon Sang Hyun and Ha Ji Won can always be seen laughing at the sidelines.

Q: Swapping souls with a woman in SG, what's the biggest change for you?
A: It's like looking at myself in the drama, like what I said just now, men seldom put themselves in a woman's shoes. This time I got to look at men from a woman's perspective.

Q: Do you have any similarities with SG's Joo Won? Joo Won is seen as a maverick, I'm curious as to whether Hyun Bin or Joo Won is more straightfoward.
A: Similar you say? Hehe, I'm not rich like Joo Won, and have not had any soul swapping experience^^ The public seems to love these type of "shining" manhwa characters, just like in MNIKSS, he's also a "shining" chaebol. But this is not quite similar to MNIKSS's.
Q: After starring in SG, what are your thoughts lately? Any new habits you've picked up?
A: SG's "Forget it". ^^ New habits...Ra Im's tone and expressions. Sometimes when playing Joo Won I'll accidentally use Joo Wanda's voice and expression, director will say, "Your performance is very
Ra Im" and does an NG.

Q: Mr. Hyun Bin, which scenes of Joo Won's did you find most memorable?
A: The bed scene with Oska at the end of Episode 5 *laughs* (hellochloe: LMAO the part where Oska keep touching him and he keeps yelling was HIGH-larious). I don't think I'll forget any scenes. Kissing with a man was much easier, because I didn't have to invest any feelings into it...

Also, the sit-up scene where I told Ra Im, "Miss Ra Im, when did you become so pretty? Since last year?" *laughs* I think this scenario was hit with the ladies (hellochloe thinks back on ppl's reactions in soompi and viki. *nods*).

Q: Which is the most memorable character you've played?
A: It's impossible for me to say which one. Each character has its own charm and I'll try hard to interpret them. For me each character is a new experience for me, and I'll use that experience to do another character. (hellochloe: I'm quite disappointed it wasn't the stalker character he played in Cha Seung Won's 2003 Bodyguard)

Q: As Joo Wanda, which women's gestures have you understood?
A: Hand movements and sitting postures *laughs*

Q: What is your dream house like?
A: Like the house I stayed with Oska in the drama would be very very cool. But that's too much really, when you speak you can even hear your echo.

Q: How do you interpret a role? Any secrets to it?
A: Get into it with all your heart and try to have a tacit understanding with your partner. Rather than any special formula, hard work and practice is more important.

Q: Honestly, I only have one question in my mind.  Your health...
A: Physically I'm fine, don't worry. But lately I hadn't had much sleep. Like yesterday we were filming from morning till 8 p.m. Sometimes on set I'll be in a daze 'cause I'm so tired...but even so the atmosphere on set is very cheery, just like in the drama.

Review: Secret Garden

If you’re looking for another Cinderella story, then Secret Garden is not for you.

In fact, writer Kim Eun Sook dismisses our hopes of finding a Cinderella story at Episode 6, where Joo Won tells Ra Im that instead of being Cinderella if he falls for her, she’ll be the Little Mermaid. And they were not talking about the Disney version of the tale, but Hans Christian Andersen’s lonely tale of the Little Mermaid’s unrequited love and of how she chooses to disappear like bubbles into the ocean. This imagery is recurrent and consistent throughout the whole series, as the characters Joo Won and Ra Im kept relating themselves to the Little Mermaid.
And as it is with the lonely tale of the Little Mermaid, Secret Garden is not your ideal love story. This, perhaps, is what makes Secret Garden appealing and moving at the same time — it has the element of fantasy (thus the soul-switching), yet it has the bittersweet reality of life. In fact, it breaks most of the Korean drama stereotypes we could ever think of.
